The Balkan region has been recently plagued with a history of conflict and tension. I am of Serbian heritage and believe that Yugoslavia is actually not such a terrible idea in making the Balkans reach its potential.
I mean realistically, Serbia can easily annex both Kosovo and Republika Srpska (about half of Bosnia's land with Serbs living in it), Bosnian muslims who refuse to convert back to Christianity can be deported to Albania where they can keep praising their pedophile prophet and keep naming their children Mohamed. And Croatia can stop being jealous cunts of Serbia's size, then I would think that the Balkans would be much more in UNITY and the prospect of Yugoslavia can be seen as more realistic.
Seeing the tension between many of the Serbs, Bosnians, Macedonians and Croatians etc. somewhat saddens me, as together, we could make the Balkans formidable as fuck.
TL;DR = suggest or comment on ways in which the Balkans can be a strong, unified region of Europe, which is something the continent lacks at the minute.

Štokavian is a dialect that originated with the coastal cities of Duklja (Montenegro), Dubrovnik (modern day Croatia) and the regions of Hum and the inner part of Montenegro.
Serbs just adapted it because they didn't have anything resembling literacy besides 2-3 monasteries.
The dialect spread with migrations caused by the Turkish invasions.
So today it's the most wide-spread among the southern slavic group.
Languages have only barely anything to do with ethnicity otherwise you'd be speaking Romanian.
