What is this millennial talking about? Has the DNC or RNC ever nominated a candidate who didn't win the popular vote?

https://youtu.be/cTV5Mof_UX8?t=8m33s
(8:30)

>Ben Carson, Donald Trump, they can't get the delegates. They're not going to get ANY superdelegates. So they have to rely on just regular delgates in only the Red states. They only have access to... a majority.... they only have access to 40% of the total delegates, for the most part, and they're only going to get a fraction of those.

The fuck?

As far as I know, no. I'm pretty sure RNC hates Trump so I wouldn't put it past them to try to pull something. And all it will take is a few Fox News and talk radio hosts to spew some talking points about why it's OK to stop their listeners from protesting.
>>
It's just the latest meme in order to try to scare voters away from Trump.

The DNC essentially did after the 1964 Convention Chimpout, the RNC superdelegates don't have nearly as much power as those of the dems though.

They will do what they can to screw over the American people so we have to make sure that Trump wins by as much of a landslide as possible. There's only so much they can do if his popularity is absolutely overwhelming.

Make sure you're registered Republican so you can vote in the primaries.
>>
>>55868809
Delusional.

Trump's enormous base is evenly split between moderates and the more hard-right. There is no c.uck out there who will outperform him with only 'Blue Republicans' for delegate votes.
>>
>>55869596

They act as moderators in both the selecting of potential candidates and shilling for those ones that are perceived as the strongest during the primaries, (hence the Bush shilling from Conservative media outlets and various Israeli publications,) and then act to select the strongest candidate for the general if there's a tie.

Dem superdelegates can straight up override primary voters if enough of them support a certain candidate, that would be disastrous though, which is why Dem primaries are usually both far smaller and more lopsided than the GOP's.

Yes, the RNC did. His name was Dubya.

I need to ask a stupid question. I registered to vote for the first time and moved to Nevdad and don't understand how a caucus works or if i need to show up to support trump or if delegates just choose. the state website vs the gop website confused me.
>>
First of all its a primary for a political party. They could draw names out of a hat to pick the nominee. It's not a democracy in that sense.

Second if they did do that the party would be finished. Trump would run third party and those who voted for him would leave the party.
>>
>>55870635

Nevada, i guess its in February
>>
>>55870635
Caucuses are retarded. Yes you got to show up at your local caucus place. Then people raise hands or go to one side of the room to show which candidate they support.

The result is only the most extreme people go and peer pressure could cause people to vote differently.

OP needs to specify. I can understand that it's most likely the primary popular vote, but Dubya didn't win the national.

>"nominated a candidate who didn't win the popular vote?"

The way the question is phrased threw me off.
>>
>>55871176
Obviously "popular vote" means the part of the primaries that is decided by voters, AS OPPOSED TO the undeclared delegates voting their own way. Did you even watch the linked video or read the quoted text?

cool. Im going to go and try to make america great again

Most of the GOP's representation is comprised of establishment Republicans, who hate Trump/Carson for obvious reasons. Not to mention that if they did endorse either of them, they'd lose the support of political super-donors like the Kochs and Adelson and mainstream lobbyists, who hate outsider candidates.

The remainder, being the Tea Party, Freedom Caucus, etc., hate Trump/Carson because they're quite simply on opposing sides on many major campaign issues.

In other words, yeah, few or no endorsements for Trump/Carson.
>>
>>55871605
Trump and Carson combined usally capture more than 60% of Republican voters.

Popularity isn't what gets you political endorsements in primary season.

The point of the thread is HOW? Too bad you're Canadian.
>>
>>55871605

>In other words, yeah, few or no endorsements for Trump/Carson.

Doesn't work that way senppayyyy lmao. The Tea party is essentially dead at this point and the neo-con establishment is on its last legs.

Don't get me wrong I'd like nothing more than for them to try and directly oppose Trump and Carson, it would destroy them completely and hand the reigns of the party back to ackshual Republicans, but they won't. They'll shill as they have been and try to tell FOX to smear Trump and anyone else that isn't Bush, Cruz, or Fiorina, but at least half of FOX seems to hilariously be not playing ball anymore.

This election is great, because the establishments of both parties are getting #rekt, (to varying degrees of coursh.) Shillary will definitely win her primary, but when a commie Alzheimer's plant candidate that was supposed to just make you look good steals half the votes and robbed you of your base, a mistake was made.

>>
>>55871979
Amazing, not a single one for trump or carson. This should really be a flag to the majority of republicans giving them their support that the elected officials do not have their interests at heart
>>
>>55872509

No, really though.
>>
>>55871979

So, what's the point of having primaries at all and doing debates and shit if some shadowy group of political elites just tells us who's gonna be running?

Why do all of this if they're just going to completely ignore what the people want and just go.

"Bush vs Clinton 2016 lol"
>>
>>55872664
It's surprising from a policy standpoint that no one has supported Carson, since he has some very mainstream c.uckservative views. Probably, people are withholding their endorsements because they know he will crash in the polls when people start paying attention to the election and see what a total maniac he is.
>>
>>55872286
Even better, shilary has had to lamely mimic a lot of berns positions which makes her ring false to her original establishment base and his extremely liberal base

Sweet jesus, please not 8 years of her
>>
>>55868809
Dude what the fuck did you really just spoil fallout 4 for me? You little bitch.
>>
>>55872746

Well typically the parties are pretty good about aligning popular and elite opinion. If there's a serious divergence at the Republican convention next year in Cleveland, it'll be an aberration.
