If the refugees were women and children (or even 50-50 man woman ratio) it would not be as bad, but most of the refugees are young men.
Having a surplus of young single men is never good for society. They are more likely to commit crimes and have less civic participation. Not to mention they are more easily drawn to extremism, whether it be political or religious.
