>>
>>55845090
If it's not a right then why is the fire service or the police a right?
>>
>>55845090
I don't get americans, sometimes
>healthcare is a right for niggers: medicaid
>healthcare is a right for soldiers: va
>healthcare is a right for baby boomers: medicare

but oy vey if every middle class gets the same rights, le islamic gommunism by kenyan obongon !11!
>>
>>55845090
Healthcare is a right.

However mandated health insurance ought to be reexamined in it's current form.

/thread get fucked, stop shit posting shill fuck.
>>
>>55845090

well you pay taxes, you have to ask govt for a right to have gun, drive car, open business or buy knife (britbongs exclusively), you are monitored by CCTV and bots on the internet, you don't really have a free speech and you can't set up your own set of rights so you're basically a slave.

Why not get a free health care for all that?
>>
>>55845159
they're not rights either
>>
>>55845159
Those are both parts of being a civilized country not a right.
>>
>>55845250
Do you not understand what any of those institutions are or do?

Plus, if the government shat on the public medical service and the death toll would skyrocket, then WHO in the world would live up until is +70s to work and pay taxes?

Who is worse? The one who uses extreme analogies to appeal to emotion, or the one who uses the literal denotation of said analogies to dismiss the first guy's claim?

Healthcare should be a right. But it should not be funded by theft.

>Trudeau got elected instead of him
feels bad man
>>
>>55846548
Good news, taxation is not theft, it's the one right held by government.
>>
>>55846420

I mean he's not wrong. If you say there is a right to healthcare, and every free practitioner refuses to give you care, it means the state must coerce those practitioners to care for you.
>>
>>55847051

Yes it is.
>>
>>55847335
yeah but comparing it to slavery is fucking retarded.
>>
>>
>>55847573
I wonder what they did to slaves who refused to pick cotton.
>>

A bad instance because retards today don't understand non black American slavery, but Paul is correct
>>
>>55846548
>Healthcare should be a right
>this service should be guaranteed
>it costs money, but it should be guaranteed regardless
It shouldn't be a right, it's as retarded as considering food a right
>>
>>55848131

It should be a right. But not a guarantee. We should all strive towards volantiarized healthcare, a system echoing the freindly societies of the early 20th centuary.
>>
People have a fucking messed up notion of what a "right" is jesus fucking christ

It's a right in the same way travel is a right, i.e the government shouldn't be allowed to deny it to you. "right" doesn't mean the goverment is supposed to supply it to you.

I'm sorry but what the fuck do you think a right is?
>>

Healthcare is and always will be a right the way you put it because it has no interest in denying it

Like breathing air is a right

What if there is a shortage of doctors in the future? What if, in order to not violate someone's RIGHT to healthcare, doctors have to work 20 hours a day to keep up with the demand for treatment? If a doctor decides to take a vacation, leaving people without the treatment they need, is he violating their right to healthcare and liable for punishment under the law?

"Slavery" is an extreme example and Rand didn't articulate it eloquently, but the point is that rights are not things that are given to you. Rights are things that you already have that can't be given. Maybe you can make the argument that we, as a society, should provide universal healthcare, but it's stupid to call it a right.
>>
It is economically beneficial to have everyone in a country constantly healthy and constantly working. Slap it with any label you like, "right, privilege, communism" etc. it's still just better.
>>
>>55849807
>muh poor wittle doctors

You have any idea how ridiculous you sound?
>>
>>55849974
Yes I do my friend, and I am not sounding ridiculous at all ;)
>>
>>55849492
That's principles not rights

Almost every policy every devised could be argued to fit under that

I agree with everything you've said. The situation you've described is exactly what will happen in the future, especially if Obamacare really does become permanent. Doctors will be paid a maximum amount instead of being paid for the time they've worked. If they're paid for only 40 hours of work a week, they will not work more than that. And therefore, less doctors will be working.

This is why such things must start being automated. A machine could easily diagnose medical problems, more accurately than a human, sometime soon in the future. Hopefully.
>>
>>55849807
I mean, the distinction between "right" and whatever else you wanna call it is virtually meaningless semantics. the point being made is universal healthcare and calling it slavery is fucking retarded. no doctor in any major country where this is the norm actually feels this way. doctors and all them devoted their lives to treating people - they're laying in the bed they made.

I laugh at anyone who uses the word "right".

You have afforded privileges, not "rights".

You have the privilege to speak your mind and not be jailed by the state.

You have the privilege to bodily autonomy.

You have the privilege to your life.
>>
>>55850153
Principles are the foundation of rights

>Healthcare is a right! No one should have to pay for their health!

>Go to a grocery store
>Pick up a loaf of bread so I have something to eat
>Try to leave
>Get arrested

Explain yourselves.
>>
>>55850384
The difference between a "right" and a "privilege" is not meaningless semantics. For example, Medicare and Medicaid are privileges, and if the country didn't have the means to pay for them, they could legally discontinue these programs. However, if the government discontinued a right, like freedom of the press, then it would be illegal and unconstitutional.

Consider guns and medicine. Both are tools for survival. Sometimes they even both work by killing another organism to protect the user. Americans have the right to bear arms, but the government doesn't give the people free guns. Why should they give them free medicine?
