Most Muslims actually hold several beliefs that would be deemed extremist, they just do not act upon them. There have been many polls that indicate a very high desire from even young Muslims to enforce sharia is western countries.
It's a small jump from just holding these values and killing for them.
I said back when it first started that the Islamic State would feed off the inherent hatred that Islam teaches, and here we are.
Its a snowball, the bigger it gets the more of those radical Muslims feel their views are validated and the more inclined they are to join and kill in the name of them.
If IS rocked up in London tommorrow the East of London (where I live) would become a stronghold as around half of the Muslims here either joined or simply sat by and watched.
