The basic gits of it is that there in no past nor future, only present. Its like when 'muricans say only Criminals commit Crimes. You just don't consider origin or consequences of things. Labels are not descriptive, but absolute. Once you're labelled as something, it is not part of you, but everything thats you.
Muslim cannot commit crime, coz he is not Criminal but Muslim. And Muslim that pulls the trigger is not Muslim, but Terrorist, coz he commits Terrorism.

To an extent, but you could say that nothing is truly representative of all Islam since they do not have an official leader/hierarchy/orthodoxy. They are representative of a part of Islam though

This is true, terrorism is just a tactic. The issue is radical islam, which often uses this tactic.

The only requirements to be a real Muslim is to follow the Quran and submit yourself to Allah's will. As far as I know, ISIS does this, so they are true muslims. Again, it's not like there's some central body that can excommunicate them and deem them non-muslim.
