What is the goal of these attacks on civilians? Just to piss off major powers? What demands have ISIS made after these attacks? It just doesn't make sense to me, attacking civilians (occasionally men in service) in Canada, US, Paris, Belgium, and London without a goal other than "ALLUH ACKBAR KILL THE WEST"
In traditional war you attack to gain land and/or political control. These attacks are sad but insignificant at scal; ISIS will never win a war by killing 100 people at a time in spread out of multiple countries. What do they expect will happen after throwing stones? That all western countries will give up turn to Islam?

Too many people think ISIS behave according to secular political motivations, just using religion as a front similar to Al-Qaeda. They're the real deal, though. They're religious fanatics that want to impose Islamic rule on the world.
I think their official goal is creating an Islamic Caliphate with Sharia Rule in the former territories of the Ottoman Empire, and along with it kill infidels all over the world.
