Also, off the top of my head, I know that most of those cities in Texas have a very significant military population in them. San Antonio is where the Air Force's basic training is, New Braunfels has a lot of military guys that commute to San Antonio, Kileen/Ft. Hood has the largest military installation in the Western world in it, Abilene has an Air Force base that, IIRC, has nuclear-armed B-52s there.
