Everytime. Now here's the problem. What do you do when one guy has "purchased" all the private security companies i nthe area? I'm saying "purchased" because obviously most anarcho-anything dissolve currency. Well, people flock to that person for protection. He lets them stay on this land, in echange for services or goods. Also, you have to call him m'lord, liege, baron or whatever. Gee, I wonder where that gets us.
You don't even need someone to "buy them out". It would happen one way or another. Simply because it makes the most sense in survival for everyone involved.

How is it stupid? They provide protection for service or goods. The best possible option is they protect, while their serfs work the land and provide goods and services. We already hit serfdom/monarchy with that.
Fuck, the more companies would use anarchism AKA be mercaneries, the more companies like I defined would be popular and powerful. They would be the safest bet.

Well, do you know gated communities? In those, crime is pretty much not existing.
I think it would be something like that.
You gain access only by invitation or by showing a valid insurance to pass a place.
So first, there would be much more efficient security. If you wish to (and you are able to pay for it) you can have safetyguard on every corner.
Also everyone could be armed.
