Passports routinely survive severe plane crashes and traffic accidents. They are pretty durable and often the only means of identifying unidentifiable corpses.
Explosions are not huge fireballs like you see in the movies, their destructive force comes from the pressure so passport surviving an explosion is nothing unimagineable.
