There is no solution.
- Killing them all is impossible, and even if we could kill them all it wouldn't fix the problem for long.
- Increasing defense and security is also dumb, because that would make ourselves more uncomfortable and less free just cuz some dickheads keep throwing rocks at us.
Doing nothing is not great either because then we're just letting our people get killed by fucking dipshits, but there's really nothing we CAN do. Increasing defense or blowing them up is just a waste of money that we could be using to win the REAL war, which is make our country so advanced that there's no denying their culture is a way of the past and then wait for them to die out. They already live in a nearly uninhabitable wasteland. Starve them. Devalue their currency. Put money into regenerative medicine and cryogenics, so that their efforts are worthless and nobody in the developed world has to live in fear of being shot. Colonize Mars, see if their kalashnikovs reach that far. They and their backward way of thinking will inevitably die.

The only worthwhile war is a war against ISRAEL.
Islamic fundamentalism/Wahhabism is being exported by the Saudis and their satellite states by way of state-funded imams that go and preach heavy-duty bullshit. Similarly, both Iran and the Saudis like to fund whichever little insurgent group will extend their influence, usually with a whole lot of bullshit religion and pillaging along the way.
Well then. What if they were dirt poor?
I propose that the way to strike down this bullshit once and for all is to go full steam ahead with economic warfare. As the majority of these major Islamist states exports are oil (like literally 90%) this simplifies the problem a great deal. So here's my several step proposal:
1) Mandate all cars SOLD, not made, in the United States be flex-fuel capable. This isn't gonna break the bank, it's like $100 price difference for modified fuel injector software and corrosion-resistant fuel lines.
2) Massive investment in commercializing molten-salt reactors, don't even need to be the Thorium kind. This has multiple follow on effects of shutting up environmentalists because no CO2 and no chance of meltdown while burning nuclear waste, and electricity prices go to or below that of coal and gas-fired power stations, rapidly displacing fossil fuel electricity.
3) Make these new molten-salt reactor power stations a combined electricity and hydrocarbon fuel producing facility. When it's daytime, the reactors are using most of their power for peak energy demand, but when the draw lulls, it goes straight into electrolyzing seawater into hydrogen and oxygen, and using the carbonic acid in the seawater (dissolved CO2 from atmosphere) to then recombine it to create whichever hydrocarbon fuel you want. Again, carbon neutral, massive support from environmentalists.
So let me sum up the combination of all of these. Because of #1, within 5 years you now have tens of millions of new cars on the road that can burn fuels that are not derived from crude oil.

And because you can create the fuel so rapidly and cheaply, you're looking at something like $2/gal for very high energy density clean-burning tree-hugging fuel. You've just destroyed all the demand for Arab oil.
And the people over there only put up with their theocratic despots because they've associated piety with increasing economic prosperity.
