November 14th 1965, The Battle of Ia Drang Valley took place in Vietnam. It lasted for 3 days nights. The conclusion of the battle was that both sides took victory.
U.S. had almost 100 KIA while the PAVN had 1000+ KIA (estimated 1500+ that include airstrike by Lt. Gen. Hal Moore) The PAVN claimed they learned the American combat tactics and would then be able to win the long game. "We Were Soldiers Once... And Young" Written by the leader of the
Lt. Gen. Hal Moore, and also a journalist who joined the ground troops, Joe Galloway, was made several years later. A movie was made staring Mel Gibson with the same title in 2002.

Let's take time to remember the lives lost in the battle, and post some Vietnam pictures.

The man in the picture is Richard Rescorla. A british born military man.
He lost his life September 11th, 2001 evacuating civilians from the South Tower.

My grandpa was in vietnam with the Legion etrangere, his storys always was based as fuck.

Thank you. My dad's friend was a crew chief in Vietnam. He told me some neat stories.
When he would hear a helicopter you could tell he was getting a little nervous.

I've got that book lying on my bedroom floor somewhere, still have to finish it. Moore wrote a followup about going back to Vietnam in the late 90's IIRC.

It's a good read. Hard to follow all of the names and companies. One of the videos I linked documented going back, including some men from the LZ Albany ambush. Was harsh shit.
