The LDS church began expansion in the early 1900. Many Islanders were without basic education of the world and of God. Many universities were constructed in these areas and many missions were aimed at the isles to spread the word of God as there is little influence from other religions there.

I haven't seen any in years. The last time I saw some I invited them in for tea & biccies. They were pretty nice.
I had two mormons come to my house in the dead of winter last year. They were riding bikes around, so I know they were cold to begin with. I explained that i wasn't interested but i wish them well and I had business to attend to. They continued to ask me if I know the story of Joseph Smith. I had already asked to to leave by this point so I was a bit agitated. I never invited them in and continued to humor them with silly questions about mr. smith for about 20 minutes on my door stoop. By the end they were both visibly shivering and pissed because I told them I was actually really a satanist after they got done (i'm really not).
Solicitation should be a crime. No I don't want to learn about Morminism, I don't want to buy a sheet of stickers because you say your "deaf" and I don't need to hear a bell ringing all holiday season to entice me to throw my loose change away.
All they had to do was go away when I said I wasn't interested.
