Almost immediately someone from Germany stepped in and took the side of the US, pointing out that the Netherlands surrendered to Germany after only 2 days (way less than even Poland and France) and then willingly collaborated with the Nazis in a vast majority until the end of the war. Nations like the US with massive military power have sketchy, dubious morality. But Nations that have no military power have NO morality whatsoever and so are infinitely more cowardly and in less position to judge.
At least France TRIED to fight for a while and at least their resistance movement was significant and powerful. At least France remembered who they were under the occupation and knew all along that they MUST reclaim their identity. But the Netherlands? They deserve to be remembered as a Nazi sympathizing member of the Axis Powers, because that's how the vast majority of their people behaved. And yet only Germany, Japan, and Italy get roped in with the Nazis. Most dumb people even think Austria was an innocent victim, but really Austria willingly took part in the Anschluss. And I don't blame them; at the very least they carved their own destiny out of their own decisions, not out of coercion and cowardice.

The USA won the war. Japan is a better place today than it was in 1941. And no one gets to judge the USA whether they want to or not. Deal with it.
