I've just been exploring, found an old suit of power armor next to a crashed vertibird.
Went wandering for 30 minutes, found some dude also in power armor who is friendly. No dialog options other than him saying he likes my armor.
Spent the next hour and a half following him as he charges into every super mutant den and raider hideout in the area removing the scum.

It has the aesthetics of the T-45, but outperforms the T-51, which was *supposed* to be the final word in pre-War power armour design. In real life the Army actually does shit like this, certain units get priority on new equipment, and it often takes years for the Army to roll out some new shit across the board. The vast majority of the military was probably still using T-51 when the bombs dropped.

I found the conversations between Ulysses and the Courier to be interesting, to say the very least, and I think the DLC completed its objective. It certainly didn't have the grandeur in the environment as the others had.

All I hear about OWB is how people like the humor. I thought it shared many of the beautiful qualities that dead money had. Its very hard for me to articulate, but I burn to see the thick film of dust covering the Big Mountain laboratories, I want to hear the ghosts in the Sierra Madre villa and Hologram system. New Vegas is really good, despite shitty Gamebryo engine. I've probably played it around 6 times it's just so entertaining.
I'll be honest when I say I have a large distrust of Bethesda, and pirated FO4 within a day. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised at what I got. The writing is terrible, graphics look like shit, and the animations are so bad that Bethesdas laziness and halfassery are evident.
The game, nevertheless, managed to be so much fun I bought it full price yesterday. Building up my trash towers, running a high charisma barter build and making America Great Again has been really enjoyable.

The loading screen for it says it was supplied to troops to help maintain order during the final days before the bombs fell. Maybe they found the bulky look was better for crowd control, more intimidating looking while still having the better performance and protection capabilities the T-51 had over the T-45.
I'm sure we could spend a long time arguing over the why of the design but it probably just came down to Bethesda wanting to make a new suit of power armor to bridge the gap between the T-51 and the X-01 gameplay wise.
