Why do liberals in America always refer to Europe as this perfect alternative?
I saw it way back in Michael Moore's movie how he interviewed American expats on all our free stuff and now Larry David is going on about how great our system is.
Why?
A lot of American internet liberals are young people who got a degree in psychology and now have no job and a bunch of student debt. They envy all the 'free' things in Europe because they're not the ones who would pay for them.
Besides, the obvious reason: Europe has a lot of the leftist policies they yearn for. They need Europe to be the best place in the world so they can point to it and say that it's proof that their policies are working. The same reason a modern communist will try to convince you that Cuba is actually a paradise on Earth and their government is doing miracles.

because they see relatively low income inequality and overall happy and safe citizens so they think it's because of their welfare state and not because Europe is full of europeans. Meanwhile we have 100 million poor minorities that won't integrate.
Anyways Europe is going to shit because they're inviting in millions of foreigners so they'll probably be the same as us in a couple decades.
