John oliver seems like the kind of person you could actually debate. Sure hes a ridiculous liberal but outside of the show and out of character i feel like hed be reasonable n open minded.
Piers is genuinely insufferable and cant present his points without sounding condescending, emotionally fragile, and immature.
John oliver had his moments on the daily show but i dont think he was good enough to merit his own show.
That said i watched like seven episodes straight to try it out cause it was free(hbo) and i had nothing else to do but shitpost anyway.
It wasnt as bad as say the nightly show but it was far from great. I did laugh a few times genuinely.
I would go as far as saying i like the show now that i think about it.
Even john stewart ,who i liked as a teen because...i was a teen, would almost lise me completely when he talked gun control.
With Colbert his character was a hardcore conserative so i just pretended it wasnt satire and it was enjoyable.
In fact i sometimes think Colbert used humour to disguise his genuine political beliefs which would otherwise be see as extreme . his "character" could get away with a lot of racist and "sexist" stuff.
Anyways, fuck piers.

I don't know. Like a good colonial, I was pretty into British politics for a while, and I watched an episode of Question Time with Piers and found myself absolutely in agreement with him. It almost caused an existential crisis, but still, he can't be as bad as he seems if you only know him from reality TV and that CNN show where he railed against the Constitution.
