Throughout their history they've had no homeland and have been reviled and demonized everywhere they've went. Now that they finally have their homeland after the holocaust they finally have a place to call their own where they will experience no anti-semeticism. The Palestinians could go to a different nearby country very easily but they don't because they hate Jews.
Imagine being a child with 4 siblings. One day you have grown up and decide to move out along with your siblings, you all move to the same city (Europe) but live on different streets (various European states). Years later, your elderly parents have become weak and fragile and you decide to move back to their place (Israel) against the parents' will. Your parents don't want to let you and your 4 siblings in, so you bust down the door, kill them and declare the property yours.
