And yes, I know, most of you hate artists and most subcultures, and (understandably) hate intellectuals. But there is not going to be any kind of successful reactionary movement (and I don't think there should be, even though I hate the left). Besides, as advertisers know, you aren't going to appeal to hearts and minds by appealing to reason or stodgy, old fashion values (even if, ironically, that's really what we need).
What we actually need, is for the best young minds to gradually reshape the forms and conversations around the arts and the academic world so successfully that it is essentially diverted towards a new, third thing from the inside - something that has a fresh, 'new' form, but actually synthesizes the best of everything necessary, old or new. This means becoming more studied than progressives are, knowing their theories even better than they do so you can dismantle them. It also means getting a grasp of cutting edge culture and music in a way where you can effectively show that actually progressive ideas have nothing to do with it (this is a huge misconception - most new music forms for instance aren't coming from progressive influences).
But hoping there will just be this sudden mass, anti-intellectual popular movement that sweeps in and reinstates some kind of new monarchy or something... it's just completely impossible at this point. Being a hard line reactionary simply isn't realistic (even if I share a number of its views).
