Nah, not really, fundamental Christianity isn't really any better than fundamental Islam, it's just that no one practices it. In fact, ironically, doctrinally speaking, Islam is more tolerant than Christianity or Judaism, it has the notion of "people of the book" basically saying to be cool to other followers of Abrahamic religions because they're still worshipping the correct god, but were brought up with outdated doctrine which isn't really their fault. Quran actually has bits in it about treating Christians in Muslim lands well and letting them practice their faith unmolested as long as they pay their taxes and obey the law.
The problem isn't really with one religion or another, just culture. Most religions will give you seriously abominable advice if you actually follow them to the word, it's just a matter of whether your culture happens to coincide with the good bits or the bad.
