Nielsen did a study back in 2006, and said that males ages 18-24 represented over 79% of game console owners.

1.) Consoles are mostly for casual gaming and money drains for people who are technological analphabets.
2.) The study probably only loosely defines owning a console and "owning" is pretty evasive in itself. Conveniently it was not asked how many actually play with them.
3.) Owning a NES which is collecting dust since your son moved out barely counts either.
4.) It is obvious that this "study" is extremely thinly veiled propaganda and knew exactly what people it had to aim at and what evasive questions to ask.
5.) Why is this "us gamer girls" trend not dead yet? The market is never going to get tailored to them if they present such half-assed studies. The marketing department of game publishers does not give a shit about things like these and makes its own studies, which are only made to find solutions for printing money through statistics. As long as those dykes do not slam their money on the table en masse and thereby support their demographic as gamers, literally nobody gives a fuck.
