Does isis ever take prisoners, or do they just execute? Seems like I never hear about them negotiating hostages or anything, just mass killings.

I think they do. Most European governments are willing to pay ransom money for hostages, and they have in the past.
They are pretty well known for taking women and children and then raping them.
Other than that they tend to outright execute nearly male prisoners they take.

They try to ransom hostages from Europe or America; they just straight up murder other mudslimes, though. That girls who was claimed to have been killed in a drone strike's family had been in contact with ISIS for months trying to negotiate her release.

This. Ransoming continues to be one of the most profitable ventures and has been for thousands of years.
They take prisoners, execute them, then lie about it so that they can get the ransom money and split. They did this all the time back when they were making the Jihadi John videos.
