So fucking stupid, even disregarding how much of a pipe dream that is, having a truly unified European continent is about the exact opposite of the US's geopolitical interests. Disregarding the aberration that is Obama, our higher-ups quite like being the lone superpower, which has born such fruits as the increasingly globalized world economy and the long stretch of peace that developed nations have enjoyed since WW2.

A unified European continent would just be a huge American Colony and he knows it. Only Germany thinks that a unified Europe would be able to compete against America, we simply don't have the resources and one single culture to help us build a base, simply as that.
Hell, we are not even close to that level of unification and we are already losing the Union...
