I can't shake the thought of enlisting with the Army. Or are any of the other branches a better alternative? Bottom line is that I want active participation when shit hits the fan despite my passive tendencies.
Couple years back I had gone through the asvab and meps only to back out of hooking up with the Air Force, reasoning being I wanted to see where I would end up if I stayed behind. Surprise surprise everything is shit. Fact of the matter is that I could use boot camp and a swift kick in the ass to get started on the right track. Is the army a wise decision all things considered? If memory serves I did reasonably well on the ASVAB which surprised my recruiter, high 70's low to mid 80's. I'll have to pay off a fine resulting from a D.U.I several years back otherwise I'm golden for the most part.. Unless they dig up the fact that I've flirted with anti-psychotics for a couple weeks prescribed by a counselor but never officially diagnosed I can't think of any other disqualifying factors... This won't fuck everything up will it? The urge is growing in intensity and I'm feeling restless as a result of it. Would it be okay to lie about this to a recruiter, or will it bite me in the ass, or is this better aired out with frankness when I speak to a recruiter?
You shouldn't join the military at ANY age.
It's a cult. You will be indoctrinated if you join. They have to brainwash people because running towards gunfire is basically a suicidal action and against human instinct. You will no longer be "you" after joining the military but a brainwashed, mentally incompetent person.
Here are some questions to ask yourself before joining the military:
- Are you prepared to fight in any war, any place, any time that the government orders you to?
- Have you really checked out all the job possibilities in your community?
- Is this a spur of the moment decision you may regret later?
- Have you talked to any veterans who didn't like the military? Why didn't they make the military a career?
- If you become unhappy after you enlist, do you know how hard it will be to get out?
- If you get a less-than-honorable discharge, do you know how hard it will be to get it changed?
If your answer is "no" to any of these questions you SHOULD NOT FUCKING JOIN.
Actually don't join if your answer is yes either.
