useful idiot for marxism take over of america

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zmji36q8E4o

A painful exchange with a young student who's organizing for free public colleges, cancellation of all student debt and $15/hour minimum wage for all campus employees. She doesn't really know how to pay for it, unfortunately.

Sending some dumb progressive bitch up against Cavuto seems kind of unfair. She probably doesn't have any actual background in economics.

>>

She's LEADING the protest. This is their spokesperson.
>>
>>55565349

Yeah, this was brutal.

Even if the whole thing is a bit misguided though, I do think the protests have some merit as far as college costs go. The fact that most universities cost $20,000+ a year is just insane. If they had brought someone on the show who wasn't a complete drooling moron they could've held their own as his questions were 100% predictable (it's fucking fox news, not exactly the best and brightest).

e.g.

>Where will the money come from?

>We want to hold the colleges accountable for their own inflated pricing.

simple as that. not to imply that it would do anything but it makes more sense for the 'movement'.
>>
>>55565349
>so how much do we need to be taxing the 1%? we're already taking about 50% of their wealth for crying out loud!
does this guy realize how much money we're talking about? it is not comparable to taking 50% of your income. you could tax these guys 90% and they would still live a life of extreme opulence. we're talking about billionaires here. 10% of a billion dollars is 100 million dollars.

If anyone was wondering about concrete numbers, I came up with 2.4 trillion revenue if you were to tax the 1% at a 100% effective tax. For comparison the federal budget is 3.7t with 3.2t actually paid, the other 0.5t is debt.

I am annoyed by the "you couldn't pay for medicare for three years" line from Cavuto, it is stupid and cheapens his point. Why would you care about funding 3x a program instead of annually funding it? Just stick to relevant comparisons.

Most colleges don't cost 20k+ unless you live there. You need to separate education cost and living cost at the very least. The primary reason why college cost has gone up is because the gov pays for it.

why do people actually believe this?

his point was that even if we did tax a billionaire at 90% (we never will) they're still taking home a 7+ figure salary regardless.

as an example, let's say we implemented a flat tax of 25%. 25% of $1,000,000 is $250k. they still have 750k left over. in both cases, they are living a ridiculously lavish lifestyle and can afford whatever the fuck they want. 25% of $20,000, on the other hand, is $5k. that amounts to rent for an entire year in many places, you could buy a used car, you could invest in education and pay off a years tuition at a state school. THIS is why arguing against a progressive tax is just ridiculous.

and for the record, i make 6 figures as a software salesman so no, i'm not "lookin for free shit". i'm just not a cocksucking faggot that worships the ground trustfund babbies walk on.

quick google search:

>According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2014–2015 school year was $31,231 at private colleges, $9,139 for state residents at public colleges, and $22,958 for out-of-state residents attending public universities.

the cheapest we are talking is still $10k on average, which assumes you have a state school near where you live (many do not) and either way is still a ton of money and would require a loan for most americans.

the thing that irks me about it is the point of college loans isn't for the financial institutions on the back end to make a profit, it is to invest in our country's future and give opportunities to young people so we don't raise generations of 99% dumbass laborers in an age where we don't have to anymore, and we would benefit on the world stage by giving them said opportunities. the whole system seems ass-backwards to me for that reason.

a billion dollars is so much money that if you took away 90% of it, you would still have 10 times as much money as you'll ever see in your life. a billion dollars is too much money for one person to have, especially when there are people who have nothing. if it turns out that the majority of that billion is spread out in investments, then fine. cash out. somebody else will buy in.

That $10k figure only applies to tuition. It doesn't apply to room and board, books, or even admin fees. Throw in admin fees and that's another $2000. Room and board is going to run between $3000 and $7000 anually. Books will add another 600 per semester.

>>55567208

>>
If anything we should subsidize college for anyone who wants it, this way there is still some sacrifice and personal investment for those who want to go to college and its not something people just mindlessly do after high school. Similarly we should also do a better job of promoting trades and offering training for them. In most cases I think it's a lot better to go into a trade than get a stupid major you aren't at least passionate about.

I also think if this were to happen that community colleges should be expanded to focus on general ed and intro level classes then students can transfer to a university once they know what subject they want to focus on. I majored in computer science at a pretty good college and while I definitely feel like I got a superior education in that regard there is no real advantage in spending so much money on general education classes that you literally will never use.

What? Being elderly, disabled, or having some zero sum job doesn't mean you aren't a waste of space. I know of plenty elderly, disabled, and working people who are a waste of space. Shit, I'm related to some of them. In the past, my disabled relative would have been put in a fucking asylum rather than sucking up thousands of taxpayer dollars per month. In the past, elderly people would have been taken care of by their families or died. It's funny to laugh at them now, but we're on the brink of having an entire generation of Americans who GENUINELY expect to never have to pay off their debts or work a job outside their comfort zone or make any real attempt to climb the ladder of success.

As a 30 year old homeowner who has been working since 14, with a wife who just paid off her student loans (state school, zero help with tuition due to lower middle class white privilege), and is pregnant with our first child, it genuinely terrifies me to imagine what this country will look like 10-20 years from now. Absolutely false. Rich people are rich because they created wealth. The act of converting useless raw materials into useful products is the creation of wealth from nothing. Without Apple, for instance, the world would be $670B poorer.

It's through the wealth creation process where people are employed to utilize their specialized skillset. Rich people do the world an enormous benefit by investing and facilitating in the wealth creation process by buying stocks, saving money in banks, and providing the capital required.
>>
>>55568560
Shut up Britbong, your class system is the most stratified in the West.

If your parents finance your whole way through college but some other kid can't go at all because he's got poor parents, the only thing you did right was have the foresight to be born to the right parents. It says nothing about who you are, and everything about who your parents are. And if your grandparents financed your parents, which they probably did, then it just further vindicates that people stay where they're born forgoing either outright brilliance (for a move up) or being a total fuckup (for a move down).

Explain why anybody born into a low class should simply accept how unfair life is without some kind of rebuttal that probably involves breaking whatever rules or laws keep them in the position they're in.

If "life is unfair" is sufficient justification for someone to be born into poverty while others are living in the lap of luxury, then "life isn't fair" is sufficient justification to take whatever you want by force, and it just means that whoever got stolen from or victimized is inferior to the person who fucked them up, ESPECIALLY if they were a richfag.

Aren't they a few options to relieve student debt? Forgive the debt, reduce the cost of education so loans aren't necessary for students, or stop requiring college degrees for entry level work. I agree with Mr. Fox that it would be unsustainable to force the public to pick up the college tuition bill for every student at current tuition rates, so let's think about the other two options.

Why does university cost so much now? It's getting more expensive every year at a rate that far exceeds inflation. They're not paying their athletes, lecturers aren't millionaires, and student workers making than minimum wage handle most of the day to day campus work.

Where the fuck is all the tuition money going?

Why are college degrees a hard requirement for most entry level positions now? Where did vocational programs go? Smells like a massive scam to me.
