I don't like the current trend. Economic crisis were what led to the previous two world wars. Things seem to be very much heading that direction again. Currency wars are already in full swing. There's plenty of countries with large issues that could pop the global economy pretty easily. That would make everyone in every country very grumpy with one another.
I don't see any signs of things de-escalating on the macro scale here.
I think it a nuclear war could still start very easily. Fuck, the cold war was so close to going hot i tend to believe it's only by a 1/10 chance that we aren't all living in a post nuclear apocalypse. What is tensions rose between China and the US? Who could de-escalate that? Would the entire US just agree to hand over all global power to China without murmuring the world "nuclear"?

Let's look at the possibilities.
There is a fairly good chance India and Pakistan will nuke each-other at some point, they have been in a nuclear standoff for quite a while now and Pakistan is essentially a failed state. Every now and then they fire conventional artillery at each-other across the border.
DPRK, while having small scale nukes hasnt yet got a good means of delivering them, or probably miniaturizing them either. Give them another 10 years though and they may have overcome this problem. Although South Korea adheres rigidly to non-provocation, and de-escalation, it could still happen.
Golda Meir already threatened to nuke both Syria and Egypt before, and was only talked down from a launch by Kissenger. Next time the jihad countries might not be so lucky.
The UK spirited away South Africa's nukes double quick when the niggers took over (cant let black people have strategic weapons!) so there is no chance of trouble there.
Putin is re-assembling Soviet Union 2.0 and will gradually expand and use former warsaw pact countries as a buffer zone, but I dont see him turning the cold war hot anytime soon.
