Why did the allies only declare war on Germany over Poland when the soviets invaded them at the same time? Before hand the Soviets invaded Estonia, Finland and other Baltic and south eastern European states.

By that measure, Africa would be a larger superpower than WW2 U.S.A or Germany or even all of Europe...
Of course, in reality, size on the map doesn't mean a fucking thing.
South America is large but had zero ability to fight a war across the pacific ocean or the atlantic ocean.
The U.S. and British navies were being obliterated by submarine warfare, trading hundreds and hundreds of full vessels for a handful of u-boats destroyed.
U.S. and Britain and Russia basically spent their entire fortunes and industry for the next several decades to pay for ton after ton after ton after ton after ton after ton of food, clothing, machinery, metals, fuel and such being sent over and sunk to the bottom of the ocean before arriving.
If the populations of the U.S. and Britain and Russia hadn't been willing to buy the "it's a fight to the death, give us trillions of your dollars of labor and materials because patriotism" spiel, then without the stream of U.S. aid, britain and russia would have both been forced to surrender.
Britain's only strength was having a surface navy that was big enough to stop any possibility of invasion. But the places to get millions of pounds of oil to fuel those ships is very far from England and it was a matter of time until the constant torpedo sinking of british ships meant that the british empire would dissolve into an impoverished mainland with fleet devastated/fuel-less and just waiting for a chance to surrender (Essentially britain would've met the same fate as late-war japan that was already starving, unable to man or fuel a navy anymore and just collapsing into peasants each passing month)
Russia was also in serious trouble. When those peasant hordes leave the farmlands and go to die in human waves, that leaves a huge lack of food generation, compounded by their horrible transportation. Their whole train and truck industry had to be imported with everything else.
