I apologize for what my people did. It was horrific, terrible, an affront to all that is decent and American.
Our occupation resulted in the theft of thousands of Japanese swords, both factory produced for soldiers and those crafted by trained masters centuries before. This is a heinous crime we've committed that has betrayed the spirit of the Second Amendment.
I am deeply sorry for this atrocity that has been committed. Some have been returned to Japan, but others are still missing. Regardless, this is something that cannot be forgiven and if there's one thing America did wrong during the war aside from not joining and fighting against Hitler, it was the theft of swords during the initial months of the occupation.
