Okay /pol/, assuming the conspiracies about cultural Marxism and the Frankfurt School are true, I want to know: why the hell would they want to destroy the West in the first place?
Is it really as simple as Gramsci/Lukács' idea that communism can only emerge if Western culture sinks? If that's the case, how come communism did come to Russia, which was far more Christian and traditional than Germany, France, and Britain?
Can anyone elaborate on why they believe this conspiracy to be true?

Gramsci's works weren't even translated into English until 1975, far too late to have been an influence on the 60s counterculture.
Also, the phrase "long march through the institutions" doesn't appear in Gramsci once.

I find it funny that the Frankfurt school is so demonized by /pol/ when it was my exposure to Adorno that first got me thinking about the nature of power in modern society.
Adorno, Althusser, and Foucault were a big part of shaping my understanding of modern power structures.
These same minds which turned so many college students into Marxists had the opposite effect on me. I think most of /pol/ could do with actually reading Adorno and Althusser if nobody else. Foucault is interesting as well, but more from an academic point of view.
