Chain mail isn't that great for piercing weapons.
Firearms smuggled in are particularly good at piercing.

If you are outnumbered even the Excalibur won't help you. The trick is to have a group of people, and history proved that groups of people with long sharp sticks are better than groups of people with short sticks.

Again, the spears are better because they don't need all the space you need to swing a sword, also the short thrusting motions are a lot quicker.

Anything that isn't steel and either welded or riveted is useless in combat. At worst a good hit will embed ring shards in your body.

Having done SCA and metal weapons combat for almost a decade, against an unarmored opponent I'd take a broad-blade spear or glaive every time. Even against a group.
