I really like the supernatural type of anime, so recently I'd recommend Parasyte and Death Parade. Genres like this don't deal with a lot of stupid romance shit generally, or do it in tolerable ways.

Actually I kind of agree. K-On seriously avoids pervy pandering and is basically character-based light comedy that works quite well. Specifically Hou is shit. It totally undermines the existing canon. It started off like it was a serious arc like Sai, and ended up as a joke one. I hope it's a joke at least, because otherwise things end up like Umineko where the foundation of reality is pulled out from under us and and fall into "it was a dream all along!" type reasoning.
The same could be said for Sai too (that everything is a miserable Rika's story of revenge and salvation), but at least that one is thoughtful.
