That's actually not true at all. Many big named atheists are also anti-islam. Christianity is much more popular in the west, so many atheists tend to target it more frequently.
As muslim becomes a bigger and more noticeable threat, we'll see more anti-islam sentiment.
Because Muslims aren't the overwhelming majority in society and positions of power to the point where they can shit all over what is supposed to be a secular government, all the while screaming bloody murder about how they're persecuted.

I'm an atheist. I love and support Christian ideals as practiced by the Western world for the last few centuries. Culturally I would describe myself as Christian, and if there was a choice between living in a Christian society or one infested with the current brand of atheist, I would pick the Christian one every day of the week.
There are a lot of atheists like me who don't make a point of our beliefs. Unfortunatly there seem to be a lot more who think that if you can point out that bad things have been done in the name of Christianity, this invalidates the entire religion (yet Islam will mysteriously escape this criticism).
I just can't square up the notion of a God or gods as described by major religions with the world I see around me. I think it's very possible there's some kind of supreme creator, but that's as far as it goes.
The problem is, as with homosexuals, you only see and hear the flamboyant ones who need to be centre stage, and like any such individuals, they are a blight on what they claim to stand for.
