B)The French govt did not refuse to participate in the Iraq war because they didn't believe there was WMD. The refused because they thought there should be more time for inspection. The underlying assumption to such an objection being that there WOULD be something to find. If there WERE a french contingent to the Iraq invasion who knows how far that would have gone to providing the security that would have stopped the growth of Al Qaeda in Iraq. We'll never know.

One of the things I've always thought was cool about France was that they make up their own words for things in order to protect their language and national identity.
So I don't mind that they aren't the best English speakers in the world. I have relatives who went to visit who could barely even speak broken French, but they still made the effort, and were always treated very nicely.

The only reason why people call French cowards is because after WW1, France was supposed to be the most well defended nation on Europe with the Maginot Line. However, Germany invaded from Belgium, which was not part of the Maginot Line which resulted in quick defeat. At least France made an effort and didn't give up after 4 days like Belgium and Netherlands.
That doesn't mean I don't have my gripes. For example, French hate anything that doesn't have to do with France, refuses to speak English and French think they are the cornerstone of all culture.

I really like France, and even Paris. Paris had the least amount of kebab of any major city in Europe (don't kid yourselves, London is way worse). Most of that shit is contained in les banlieus, while the city center that I was in, mostly the 15th, 7th, and 8th were very homogenous, and actually felt quintessentially French. And yes, speak French, and they are lovely people, much friendlier and open than the autistic Brits, without a doubt. If you can't speak French, of course you'll have a bad time, as they'll pretend to not know any English. It's not that hard to learn, and it's way nicer than shitskin Spanish.

I spoke to a few older French people in Paris at clubs, and at least twice, the people 30+ mentioned D-Day and how they and their parents would never forget what the US did for them. We have so many French tourists here and they're all so friendly to us and patient when we speak our dialect to them. They're always happy to see us keep our language even after 500 years.
