LUDDITES WERE RIGHT

The Bank of England's chief economist Andy Haldane has said 15m UK jobs (~50% of the employed UK population) may be at risk due to the upcoming robot economy.
Haldane's thoughts:
Admin, clerical and production jobs are the most at risk.
The robot work of the past centuries has involved manual labour; the 21st century may see robots take on cognitive tasks, shrinking the space available for uniquely human roles, meaning those humans who do find work will be paid enormously whilst unemployment ruins the rest.
The 19th century productivity gains boosted wages and the labour share; but this might not happen in the 21st century, and even now continuing automation may be depressing wages.

This isn't some academic or popsci writer. It's the chief economist at one of the most influential central banks in the world.

Are you faggots retarded or do you seriously not understand economics?

Robots getting rid of jobs just means that work in general will become MUCH easier.

At the end of the day there wont be AS many jobs but there will still be the need for humans to do other things so the jobs will move elsewhere.

With robots doing most things, many people can now have much easier jobs of just cleaning and maintaining the damn things along with moving cheap labour to other things that need to be done that robots haven't automated yet.

We will never see 80% unemployment because there's always shit to do, the only thing that's going to happen is work will get WAY easier.

Anon in 70s would be claiming that computers will make 3 day work week possible.
Automatization will only make humans work harder/more intense as they will have to take over more responsibilities from laid off workers.
>>
>>55518837

The same arguments for banning robots could be use to ban all other forms of automatization.

Should we also ban animal labour and farm machinery cause that would mean more jobs?

You dont see how retarded your logic is?

Automatization is never a bad thing.

It will mean for the most part that jobs that are degenerate like cashiers will stop be needed.

Most of the jobs we do are meaningless. Even corporate middle-management jobs in companies are meaningless wage slavery. menial 'slave' jobs that no-one wants to do will done by robots. So what? thats a good thing. In fact, it means that in the future we will probably have universal salary that everyone will receive from the government as a right, whether you work or not. Switzerland is already holding a referendum to introduce a universal wage for all.

If you actually examined history you'd know that (at least in countries with developed education systems, e.g., the fucking UK) stand to benefit massively from the elimination of redundancies in the workforce.

When you automate the menial jobs that require little real skill on the part of a worker, you aren't condemning that worker to starve, rather you're forcing him to pursue further education/training or enter a different field where there is still a need for HUMAN menial labor. The end result is that all the jobs that need doing are being done as efficiently as possible and people are forced to become the best workers they can be to be successful.

>assembler module 187 fault detected

>droid replaces module and recovers other repair droid for maintenance

As for skillsets, on-board wireless computers could give them a deeper and better knowledge of droid repair than any human.

How will companies make money if theyre replacing staff with robots
Lets say everything is nos farmed made and packed and shipped by robots. Then an automated store sells the goods
Everyone is out of a job how can they buy these goods?

Money will only be held by the buisness owners and robot makers
But money will be worthless and we will end up goi ng to like swapsies

And if everything is done by robots production costs are now just fuel costs so if everything is solar wind and shit powered aka free would all goods not be free then we can have system in place where items cost a unit and everyone gets a limit but u can get people shit on your limit in exchang3 for other goods

Most of what you wrote is retarded and without a thought, but I will answer parts that are not retarded.

>How will companies make money if theyre replacing staff with robots
We live in the world where all that matters is the next quarter earnings, growth and dividends.
Nobody is thinking about the economy as a whole, nor the people. What the upper managers concern themselves with is looking attractive on the stock market RIGHT NOW. Why is that way? Well because that's how most corporations incentivize their executives, is it bad is good, I don't know and there are many different opinions on that.

Now, imagine you were the CEO of BoxMakers inc. you can fire 90% of your staff and look incredibly strong due to all the savings. You'll get a massive bonus for doing that, your stock may surge, you may even raise your dividends.
Or you strategically lay off portions of your work force and show sustained increase in savings month over month indicating that you have room to grow.
Or you consider the effects of firing everyone, realize that not just you but everyone other company will do the same exact thing and fire all their staff, consider the ripple effect that would cause and instead keep your staff and say good bye to your bonuses, higher stock, higher payouts.

The thing is those who automate will end up ahead of the competition, but if everyone automates all will lose (as far as capitalism goes anyway).
