not true. theres history, languages, development of doctrine, all kinds of things you aren't going to learn just by sitting in church. takes a lot of time to master. just like any subject.
not everyone with a theology degree is even religious or a believer though. academic bible studies are riddled with higher criticism which seeks to study the bible as just any old book and not the word of god.
