What does /pol/ think about the outcry by scientists urging politicians to tax sugar?

I know we all hate fatties, but this doesn't seem right to me.
How about instead of doing that make it economically worthwhile to buy healthy foods?
I thought this was interesting, oh well. i guess we can get back to discussions about jews muslims african americans and other dank /pol/ memes.

how would you propose we do that?

This should be done. Adults respond to nothing except money. There are capitalist already profit systems in place to exploit all kinds of addictions (alcoholism, micro-transactions, P2W games, gambling, cigarettes, etc.), and I think it's about time virtuous people are rewarded for being that way. When health is made to be economically advantageous, people will either adapt or pay the toll for fatness.
Nobody loses here, not even sugar addicts.
>free market economy
>free
this is not a dig at america, they;re doing it here too, already have it in denmark i think.

Fuck no. I am a healthy person and there is nothing wrong with sugar if your active. A tax on sugar makes it unnecessarily expensive for me.
I think the government should do something to promote healthy living but this is not the way to do it, it doesn't go to the root cause.
The reality is that these foods are not even all that cheap. Making it more expensive won't stop fatties from buying it.
no, people are supposed to die from eating sugary shit. let nature take it's course.
I'd just make my own sugar then.
If insurance rates took peoples body fat percent into account adult obesity would drop like a rock. Or a fat guy.
