the Consad Report found a 5-7% gap. That accounted for hours worked, experience, field, etc. But it still didn't account for everything. For example it compared pediatricians with brain surgeons. They also couldn't account for actual behavioral differences, such as men just taking more initiative and being self-starters in the work place. Or having good networking skills, or being good negotiators, or just being more personable. Or conducting themselves more professionally, women just in general don't take their jobs as seriously and all the little things add up.
Face it: Women get paid because they do less work, are less productive, and worse at taking initiative and being leaders. The wage gap is almost entirely due to education and career choices. Eliminating these factors results in a disparity of about 5%. And not that's not even considering women tend to work less hours and less overtime than men.

It's extremely well known that women and men only have unequal wages if you don't take into account the type of work they do. tl;dr on gender wage gap: when you adjust for worker experience, hours worked, parental status, and marriage status, the wage closes to between 5% and 7%.
