Well, the deutsches Heer was the land component during both ww1 and ww2 and it still is called so. 'Heer' is just the German word for Army (in this context, the name for the level of command is 'Armee'). 'Wehrmacht' was the name for the entire armed forces, including navy and air force, as we have 'Defensie' or 'Koninklijke Strijdkrachten'. In ww1, there wasn't such a thing, as each country within the German empire had its own army (Prussia, Bavaria etc.). After ww1, the Reichswehr was created, consisting of the Kriegsmarine, Heer and Luftwaffe, Hitler renamed it Wehrmacht and after ww2 the Bundeswehr was created.
