Having read it now I can say that it never occurred to me that Google could be related to the US govt. All those talks about the evil corp planning to absorb everything, sure, but that it was endorsed/started by or affiliated with the government has somehow eluded me, even though it seems quite believable and natural when I read about it now. Probably gonna read the whole book now and glance over some of the sources too.

Google actually is playing itself pretty neutral. They care more about their own empire than the daily politics. However if you wanted to say a side you could shift them to the democrats, what with the clock boy in the science fair and most of google being from india. Silicon valley in and of itself has a bigger GDP than some of the EU countries do.
