The issue is that people don't actually grow out of an ideology if they don't see first hand the immediate or gradual effects it can have on a society. This "immigrants" and "refugees" and "different people" are all equal is just something nice to think of but that in practice is almost never true. Cultural differences are everything, is why people move around the glove for centuries in search of a better place to live and why different regions speak different languages and have different words for expressing things that may not exist in other languages and so on.
Thanks to years of globalization the cultural landscape of the western world is basically the same, with difference in local culture but the basic stuff being the same with the biggest difference being born into how protective or small the state should be regarding social functions (like education, retirement or security), but that isn't the same for the Arab world and people don't want to admit that difference and still think that everyone is "the same" and that globalization made every person on the planet "the same" and that all cultures are compatible with each other and can live in harmony when I can't see a single case in history where 2 completely different cultures get along well and didn't ended up in an freaking war or one culture assimilating the other.
