Rubio was wrong. Philosophy majors actually make more money than welders. Much more.

If there were as many philosophers as there were welders they would make jack shit.
I'm pretty sure his point was that welders serve a purpose and philosophy serves no tangible purpose. But being a Burger I'm not surprised that went over your head.
i don't expect /pol/ to understand this, but there is a difference between those who work in philosophy and those who work as welders
people who work in a philosophy related job are for the large part professors, which means they are usually affiliated with a private or large public university, which offers a large amount of benefits, such as a 401k, health insurance, and other faculty and union benefits
welders on the other hand can't even unionize
please keep in mind this study is not for philosophy majors, but those who actually teach philosophy

Notice that he's comparing those with a DEGREE in philosophy to those actively working as a welder. Those wages can include CEOs and Starbucks employees alike - Peter Theil has a philosophy degree: http://www.businessinsider.com/successful-philosophy-majors-2014-1
Liberal reporting, everyone.
last line of the article says it all
>Philosophy majors may make more — but if you can't get a job, that won't do you much good.
