I don't think anyone should be suggesting that no meat be consumed, but we should recognize that most meat is being raised and consumed in a very detrimental way. Detrimental to farmer's livelihood and wellbeing, detrimental to the environment, and detrimental to starving or undernourished people who could have been fed. All larger "vegan" animals have large guts which ferment cellulose/ other plant fibres and produce, surprise surprise, fats and proteins.
In order to disprove this - tell me a mammal that is large, at least similar weight to a human, and doesn't rely on post eating fermentation to get more value out of food eaten.
Humans do not have this mechanism. We need to get our fats and proteins directly.
