They aren't perfect, but they are actually usually with a few % of what the actual results are by the end of it all.
Not sure which polls are the most trustworthy, but if the same methodology used for the last polls are used for these, it isn't too hard to imagine that real opinions are at least close to what these snapshots in time present.
On top of that, they are very good for identifying who is currently leading and if anybody breaks far away from everybody else in support. It lets people know in advanced who is being taken seriously and who is just saying shit without any kind of support to back it up.
There is obviously the cynical approach to viewing this in that these polls help cement opinions, but honestly there isn't anything better we can do. Media will post polls that should otherwise be ignored when analyzed carefully, because it will show attention grabbing narratives. Just step back and realize that these polls are just a small part in an evolving discussion.
