Every other non-human on the planet is less intelligent than them. Every. Single. One.
So you all should reconsider that intelligence is a necessary trait for survival. It isn't, at all.
Now, would they eventually be wiped out by a catastrophic meteor or some other global catastrophe? Yes, but so would all of us at this stage.
