History lesson.
Back in the day, Christians weren't allowed to lend money with interest. This led to an era where not much was getting done, because there was no investment to produce infrastructure and build up society.
Jews were the only ethnic group based in and around Europe that weren't forced into this. They were allowed to lend money as per their teachings. Thus, they became the bankers and creditors in society. Not because they wanted to, but because nobody else was doing it.
In the beginning this wasn't a big deal. Banks never had too much power in society, especially when the monarch reigned in most European nations and controlled majority of the wealth. However they did do considerable lending to the monarchs at the time. This is the most pivotal moment in the history of Jews, because it's here when they start to become persecuted.
When the monarch realised the Jews wealth, they wanted to borrow ALL of it. The Jews, being greedy and crafty, decided this was okay. They will get their money back, right?
Wrong. After the monarchs robbed the Jews of their wealth, they simply made false stories about them trying to take over the country, how they are evil and backstabbing, all sorts of false accusations to turn the public eye against the Jew.
Why would they do this? So they didn't have to pay them back.
The Jews are expelled, their money stays in the hands of the monarch, and we go back to square one.
