You can literally never pay your hospital bills and it won't affect your credit score at all. Hospitals will either erase the denbt or settle for 1/10 or less the original amount just to write it off their books. Source: I had my appendix removed and never paid a dime, 3 years later I had no problem getting a home loan, and getting a home loan post-2008 is really fucking hard if your credit rating is even slightly weird.

Also just ignore the denbt collectors when they come calling. They can't do shit. They will threaten you, but if they talk about having your wages garnished or assets seized you can sue them for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. My conversations with denbt collectors for my appendix removal bills went as followed:
>answer

>"yeah whatever, bye"
>hang up on them
And they send you letters in the mail that go straight into the trash.

>If you cant afford coverage, you're doing something wrong.

or you don't have a job. or don't have a job that pays enough. and if you don't then you get a fine.

i am covered now but i went years without coverage. that's just how it is for a huge segment of the population. but when people keep going "the problem is with YOU, YOU are the problem" then hospital bills will keep going up and insurance rates will keep going up.
>>
If you can't pay it tell them so. They'll sell the debt to a collection agency who will work out a deal with you in which you end up paying a small fraction of the total over a long period of time.

Hospitals give really high bills in order to have a high starting point when haggling with insurance companies on what will actually be paid. They don't expect to be paid that much by the insurance company, or anywhere near that much by the uninsured.

The reason the hospital charges you such a huge amount is because they profile you if you don't have insurance. They charge you huge fees, which barely effect your credit (if they even go after it) and then write it off on their corporate taxes as a loss. I bet there's not a hospital in America that pays taxes.

Anyone that pays a hospital bill when they don't have insurance is a sucker. Literally nothing happens to you and the hospital gets a smaller tax bill. It's a win/win

It's absolutely believable. My mother was hospitalized 2 years ago. There was some mix-up with the insurance and she got a bunch of bills which totaled $88,000 for two weeks in ICU. This is why you get traveler's insurance or AMEX insurance when you visit Burgerland. Something remotely minor happens you are looking at $200+ for just a Dr. visit and over $200,000 if you are seriously injured and need surgery/prolonged hospitalization.

The reason you have a right to an attorney is because you have a right to a fair trial. The government is obligated to allow you to defend yourself from a crime that they are accusing you of and are possibly going to punish you for.

Healthcare is not a right. It is either non-existent, a commodity and service, or a government provided privilege depending on where you live, but it is NOT a right.

health insurance is overprice. the cheapest policies don't even cover the most common expenses. like if you need stitches there is a 2000 deductible, which is the same amount you are paying a year(if you are really lucky).

health insurance is just slavery. and then when you need it you aren't even covered.

and I have great credit. I am responsible. I just don't make a lot of money. i work full time, pay my debts to society, don't cause crime. I am not going to fork out thousands a year on something I kinda sorta maybe may need to use in "catastrophic" sitations. but then when i need stitches? nope, sorry bud, that's not covered.

if i literally have NEVER gone into the emergency room in my whole life but have to pay thousands a year for "catastrophic" insurance, but am not covered for stitches, somehting is obviously wrong. only an idiot wouldn't see they are being ripped off.

and now with my companies healthcare plan i literally pay like 8 bucks a week and am covered for up to 2000 in dental coverage and pay NOTHING and have basically total healthcare coverage(for any reasonable person).

no one can say that makes sense that if i wasn't lucky to have the job it would be FAIR for me to be REQUIRED to pay thousands for something I probably won't even use.

This is why we need to open the health market. It's currently protected and regulated by the government which is driving price of health care up.

Once competition can have a chance you will start seeing cheaper health care option.

Forcing people to pay health insurance companies isn't a good option. I cannot afford healthcare but that won't stop the government from forcing me to give them hundreds of dollars I don't have for something I most likely won't be using.

Freemarket option is the best option. And will give each person the most choice and variable quality.

With that said, you should pay your bills bud.

Of course not, those are mostly shitty wetbacks.

I'm talking about normal tourists. For example every time I drive to say, Phoenix AZ, I buy that insurance. Plus it lasts 6 months.

I think the main problem with the US healthcare system is the bunch of poor people on welfare. As long as USA is a welfare state, wetbacks, niggers and other leeches are going to abuse the hell out of it. They fuck up the taxpayers, so the class that's worse off is the middle class.

Just don't pay it. Hospitals overcharge by obscene amounts knowing insurance companies will negotiate is down to 1/5 the quoted price and the uninsured simply won't pay. It's a really stupid business model, but it's the only way they can avoid becoming insolvent with the way government reimburses Medicare/Medicaid, assuming they accept Medicare/Medicaid. Most hospitals accept Medicare/Medicaid since they account for almost half of all health spending in the US.

A large component of it is the tax system. Something that no one ever talks about

The corporate income tax is designed for corporations to waste money, since any cost they have can be pretty much written as a business expense.

That's why you see these huge bills that people post online. The hospital charges for a service and when they see you don't have insurance, they jack up the price and then write it off on their taxes

Meanwhile it as hard AS SHIT to write off medical costs on your personal taxes. Almost impossible. You have to jump through so many hoops. I think the whole thing is a scam, they obviously don't want you to pay the bill.
>>
>>55348206

do you even read the links you post?

>Multiple epidemiological studies of developmental fluoride neurotoxicity were conducted in China because of the high fluoride concentrations that are substantially above 1 mg/L in well water in many rural communities, although microbiologically safe water has been accessible to many rural households as a result of the recent 5-year plan (2001–2005) by the Chinese government.

They're studying the effects of high fluoride exposure, not exposure of 1ppm like the US has, chinese communities can have fluoride counts

Are those numbers after subsidies from the federal government for poor people (but not so poor that you don't even qualify for subsidies, such as the unemployed)?

My mother has just been doing shopping health insurance next year. The plan she chose is one that costs about $700 a month without any subsidy for a deductible of over $3000, and a co-insurance of 40% up to the max out-of-pocket of about $6500. It is neither a super cheap catastrophic plan nor an expensive Cadillac plan. A similar plan for myself, because I'm younger, would be somewhere around $300 a month.

Honestly, the trick is to have health insurance. It should be one of your top goals to get good coverage. I have had minor medical problems when I didn't have insurance and it was expensive. If your company doesn't offer good insurance or your job sucks you can buy a private plan. Then use the shit out of it. I don't pay a dime to go to the doctor and last time I had x-rays it was $58.00

I have had to go to a specialist a couple times and it is usually 20-40 dollar co-pay

I had a colonoscopy not to long ago that didn't cost a dime.

I have United Healthcare Premium plan plus dental, I think it's about 200 dollars a month and my company pays half.

Only expensive procedure I've had was a crown, which was about 600 if I remember right.

It's rough but your health is more important than a bigger apartment or a nicer computer. Gotta have the right priorities. And get your money's worth. I use it whenever I feel the inclination and feel it has been a good investment.

he didn't come to my house. i was drunk in the street near the bar where my friends were. he apprehended me, took my phone and started calling people.

then he called an ambulance which came with flashing lights. they tied me down on a gourney and rushed me to the hospital. i was just drunk.

then in the hospital i was obviously pissed, screaming for them to let me go. i was drunk so was overreacting, but i didn't have the money to pay and didn't need treatment so was furious they were forcing me. it is no medical emergency to be a little bit drunk. i wasn't even passed out, obviously i was up and yelling telling them to let me go.

they got mad so and annoyed so sent this dude in to hold me down and this jew doctor came in and injected me wit ha sedative(the didn't even tell me what it was when i asked them). they acted like it was funny and like they had the right to do what they wanted.

i was 25 and they called my FATHER, violating confidentiality and had no business going through my information.

when they tied me down with a leather strap it was in a position whcih caused me to literally have debilitating neck spasms for 3 days. i missed 3 days of work.

then they sent me a bill.

yeah, i was dumb and shouldn't have gotten drunk but they shouldn't have the right to just take ownership of a person like that, especially when there obviously is no emergency.

id be better off in jail.

>>
>>55349134
Actually the report does exactly that. It is a per capita measurement of medical expenses it makes no different if those expenses are paid through private insurance or public cover. It is the actual cost charged, for materials and labour for treatment.

The reason the US costs are so massive is because people try to get their 'money's worth' out of their insurance, dumping unnecessary costs on their insurer. Also, pharma and medical equipment companies artificially inflate their prices because they know the insurance companies will pay.

In America since we don't have single payer health care, and because of the corporate tax structure, it encourages hospitals to claim crazy expenses, all of which ARE JUST PAPER EXPENSES. Who knows how much it would actually cost if it wasn't for the corporate income tax laws.

>many years ago, wife was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in her getting a metal rod and plates attached to her bones in the same leg
>because of the previous injury, the current injury requires a specialist to properly treat
>there is no public hospital in the county with the specialist required, they refuse to do anything but stabilize wife
>family had been struggling financially a couple years ago, chose to cancel health insurance since they never needed in order to get by
>private hospitals in county all refuse to treat wife because of the lack of health insurance
>after a lot of bargaining and pleading, the family manages to convince a doctor to handle wife's broken leg if the family comes up with several thousand dollars prior to the operation
>family gets the money together and goes to the hospital
>lolno, we're going to need a couple thousand more in advance
>family can't get that much money
>husband looks toward out-of-county public hospitals which have the specialist needed
>they refuse to admit wife because out-of-county and no insurance
>wife continues to lay in bed, incapable of walking and in pain, as they try to find someone willing to mend the leg
>after a few weeks, finally manage to find someone willing to treat wife

If you have insurance, then you aren't paying those prices listed, your insurance (and your copay) have been negotiated down significantly

>(a car hit me)
So where's the part where your lawyer takes up your case pro bono and sues the fuck out of whoever hit you for the bill and enough "pain and suffer" to cover his fee/commission?
>>

Actual doctor here.

This is correct. Prices are reflective of trying to recouperate costs from non-payers.

If I was poor I wouldn't pay either. A hospital can't repo anything, and it doesn't affect your credit.

The problem is, bizarrely, your government legislates MINIMUM prices of certain health care things, which is government interference in the worst possible way.

That's why we're always swamped with Americans coming over the border to buy "cheap" Canadian prescription drugs, which are just the same pills, often from American factories, but at the actual free-market price instead of your government-mandated price.

And let's not forget Medicare, possibly the biggest single customer for prescription drugs in the world, being prevented from negotiating a bulk discount on the drugs it buys. It's insane.

Melbourne and Sydney account for half of Australia's population and have the most expensive real estate in the world.

You basically have to get on a NEET insurance plan if you aren't rich, with Obamacare everything is fucking retarded, I can't afford a private plan anymore, and I had to go through an obamacare plan to get affordable insurance, took a whole fucking year to jump through all the hoops since I wasn't a NEET faggot already in their system, and now, I get shitty health care, for slightly less then I used to pay for a decent private plan. But it's basically that or nothing. It's bullshit.

It's 22k a year for a family of 4. Thanks Obama. It was 1/3rd of that in 2008

it's not done pro bono, it's called on contingent.

if it's known who hit you there's pretty much a dozen lawyers next to every hospital who will get the money from them and/or from their auto insurer and simply take a chunk of what you're rewarded.

if it's known who hit you, and they have insurance as the law requires, any lawyer can get your expenses covered with a few letters to the insurer saying "gib money cause the guy hired me, a lawyer"

This. Everyone acts like it's so great

The out of pocket on even the expensive stuff is fucking unreal
Let alone the cheap stuff, it's like 15,000 out of pocket before they get off their ass

acutane doesn't have proven suicidal thoughts
like 2 people reported it in a trial so now they have to list it

What fucking teenager with acne hasn't had suicidal thoughts, this is a self-selected group with low self-esteem

My mother got in a car accident, her car was destroyed and she had a back injury. She got the other drivers insurance, but they are only covered for 15,000 dollars. Which doesn't even cover the health bill, or a fraction of it. She can't actually sue them because the insurance company can't release their information. The people that hit her just vanished like ghosts. They gave the Californian High Way patrol a fake address and a fake number too.

Healthcare costs are out of control because no one shops for a doctor or a surgery or a drug. That's the root of the problem. There is no free market in US healthcare except for elective procedures like plastic surgery, wherein, you guessed it, prices come down[1].
