What would happen if there was no Federal Minimum Wage?
Competition.
>>55344896
Would that be a bad thing?
>>55344929
Maybe in a Libertarian Utopia. But libertarians seem to live in a bubble that they can't understand the US isn't the only corrupt government. We have too many illegals from Mexico's corrupt government that will work for next to nothing because they send the money home.
It shouldnt be $15, but taking it away will drive wages down. There are too many people who will work for next to nothing to have competition.
>>55345312
What if a large majority of Americans will not work for next to nothing and the only people who will are CLEARLY illegals, thus, making it easier to prosecute corporations who take advantage of illegal immigrant labor
>>55345312
a drop in the price of labor would lead to a drop in the price of everything else plus a drop in unemployment.
>>55344896
Government would get ass blasted because the money they collect taxes on suddenly vanishes. Raising the minimum wage is essentially the government giving itself a raise since taxes are percentage based.
>>55344896
The states would decide their own minimum wages through ballet initiatives. Which would be preferable.
>>55345491
This is not always true. Price is also dependant on supply and demand, not just operating costs or COGS.
>>55344896
remember how during the industrial revolution, an employer could pay you whatever they wanted and you had literally no choice but to take it because otherwise, someone else would be mare than happy to?
That.
there will always be someone willing to work for low pay, because they need the money and dont have the luxury of refusing a job just because the pay is shit.
its the reason companies hire illegals and off the books workers. Because they can pay them less than minimum wage.
>>55345467
Many libertarians want free and open boarders. I believe its platform 3 probably the most controversial I like to think Im libertarian and I don't agree.
But many believe people should be free to roam without government boarders.
We would be making more money
Employees would have more bargaining power
Higher minimum wage = lower average wages
Wages have fallen as the minimum wage has increased
Having any standards for a wage rate is counterproductive to how capitalism works
Jobs pay a certain pay based on the amount of labourers who are willing or capable.
15$ is ridiculous all it does is make the rich richer and the middle class vanish.
The minimum wage earners are still earning the lowest pay be it 1$ or 100$
Middleclass is now much closer to the poor in terms of purchasing power
Rich does not earn a hourly wage at all they earn based on percents of income. If they earn say 12% per year they will continue on that path. They will earn more nominally but as a percent they will earn the same.
Mass inflation does not hurt the highest earners because they hedge against with percents.
It only hurts the middle class and the poor/lowest earners are still... the lowest earners
Minimum wage 101

Except this isn't the industrial revolution anymore. Our housing has standards, our labor has standards. If people can't afford to work somewhere because they won't be able to make rent, pay their mortgage or what have you, they will work somewhere that will. And if nobody else will, the wages will rise until the standard is met where people can afford a minimum standard of living

supply and demand is becoming a thing of the past
Supply is almost always constant now Its the demand that varies these days. Once automation kicks into high gear all normal laws of economics fall out the window.
When robots can mine, transport, melt and produce everything the standard motto of supply and demand stops.
The only supply issue we would have is energy and the only demand is dependent on what people want not need.
>>55344896
probably not much
>>55346495
I thought about robots taking our jobs.
What if there was a law that said corporations/ANY business entity may not own automated employees. But the loop hole to this is they can rent automated employees from average citizens and the rent is essentially the citizens wage as if they were working in the robots place. Of course this would be extremely complicated to implement and would confuse the tax system and create a whole new array of problems, but this is a solution I thought of that would comport with our economic system in a way that doesn't end up with mass unemployment and economic collapse
>>55345312
>There are too many people who will work for next to nothing
Then maybe people's expectations of wage and standard of living are unreasonable.
>>55346235
>If people can't afford to work somewhere because they won't be able to make rent, pay their mortgage or what have you, they will work somewhere that will.
By that logic there should be no argument for raising the wage. Nigger don't want to move away from the cities and instead take food stamps and Medicaid while they work at KFC.
THAT logic is correct and McDonald's should be paying more in the cities, but it's not what's happening like it SHOULD.
There are LOTS of places in the US where minimum wage affords a very comfortable standard of living taking ZERO Gov't services. Niggers just don't want to move hence the vocal minority.

Tbh that image should be Ronald fucking all of them with a trident dick.
Mcdonalds is way ahead of the competition, success wise.
Burger King is going broke by the day
>>55346758
Laws will not prevent it
Its inevitable its the laws of technology. Its part of evolution mankind has faced since leaving africa.
But... the end results will be either be the largest push for humans or the extinction of most species on earth
>>55347047
What?
Mcdonalds is on the verge of bankruptcy
Its doing the worst by far. They are the hardest hit by the new wave of smaller higher quality fast food chains like culvers or in and out
>>55344896
Teenage and nigger unemployment would go down in states with a statutory minimum wage lower than the federal one.

>Mcdonalds is on the verge of bankruptcy
No they're not, that's absurd.
>>55346863
Are housing codes an unreasonable standard of living? They are statutorily enforced and drive up the cost of rental units, especially in cities like San Francisco, where Landlords actually make more money leaving units vacant rather than adhering to ALL the codes and renting at roughly 3grand a month.
Is it unreasonable to live in San Francisco and expect to have a high enough wage to make rent in that city?

West coast fags are truly brain damaged.
>>55347327
They are doing very poorly
The lastest report shows a small uptick in sales but it still is in a hurt locker atm
They are closing more stores than they are opening now.

>>55345861
You are stupid. If your logic actually worked then literally no employee anywhere would make more than the minimum wage.
>>55347487
higher quality than mcdonalds
Still not high quality... nothing you get a chain burger place is going to be high quality USDA prime beef
If you cant see mcdonalds is worse quality than five guys in n out or steak n shake my guess is you have never been to any of them
>>55347491
Right, they've been missing sales targets lately, but they're hardly "on the verge of bankruptcy".
>>55347491
Also, check out Burger King's probability of bankruptcy compared to McDonald's.

Wendy's probability of bankruptcy is even higher:

>no dick on Wendy girl
>>55344896
Not too much.
Cost of living on the coasts would still be high.
Cost of living in the center of the country would still be low.
It's not like people would suddenly start doing it for free.
>>55344896
maybe liberals would realize immigrants need to go home.
>>55345491
Why would there be a drop in unemployment? Demand for labor hasn't changed.
You do understand the concepts of supply and demand, don't you, anon?
>>55344896
Replace BK with the Starbucks logo and you got something...
>>55347232
Mc'd has the worst profits in its entire history and it still soars past all of them combined.
If the minimum wage goes away the U.S. economy will collapse because no one will work, and all of the people who make big bucks won't get fed by farmers or fast food or grocery workers. Trash will pile up in the streets and people will start committing crimes to survive. The alternative would be that immigrants take over the country. Either way you're fucked.
>>55347339
If stuff is so shitty in San Francisco(and I expect that it probably is) then why do people continue to live there?
If you can't afford to live in a place, live somewhere else. Find roommates, change your lifestyle, whatever it takes.
If enough people leave, either prices will have to eventually go down, laws will have to change, or employers will have to raise their prices.
Why enforce holding a community together when that community isn't working?
