Kurds are only interested in defending their regions within Syria. If you look at the current map, there are two regions where the Kurds are in control. However separating those two is ISIS. The Turks have openly threatened the Kurds with bombing should they try to link these two areas together by going west of the Euphrates and have already bombed them on several occasions.

no its not wrong at all, the YPG have never fought SAA in coordination with any rebel groups, they only had minor skirmishes with Assad in hasakah/qamishli, but mostly they are truce and work together against IS, and in sheikh hajjar district in aleppo, they work together against the rebels

In my view it depends on what the target was:
the target could have been Russia, then it could have been SA, Kathar, Turkey, USA or some other group like ISIS, but probably not without any backing. Many will cry 'Mossad', but what would they gain?
or the target could have been the egyptian tourist industry. then ones behind it are the enemies of egypt, like the muslim brotherhood, the sinai insurgents or others like Turkey (Iran and co would not bomb the Russians).
