Do we know anything about the Yemeni Army itself? I doubt the Houthis could defeat the Saudi Army on an open battlefield, so that leaves the Army itself to defend the capital- but how could they hope to defeat the Saudis?

The terrain, those fucking Houthis are god tier when mountain defense comes to play, they know every kilomeme of their territory.
The Yemeni Army fighting alongside the Houthis is pretty much the core of the Republican Guard and the most elite mechanized brigades of the original army of Abdallah Saleh that remains loyal to him.
Before the Saudi intervention, they were actually sweeping the floor with the pro-saudi forces/AQAP.

To be fair, they put up a hell of a fight in the beginning of that siege, held out for a pretty long time, got hit really hard with VBIEDs, killed scores of IS commanders, and only fell after Omar al Shishani took over command of the assault.

But yeah, I also got the impression that they gave up pretty easily at one point. Shit went downhill really fast all of a sudden.

The fact that the Houthis have managed to hold their ground and force attrition warfare on the Saudis comes from the fact that they are farly even in manpower terms with them. They are 150.000 thousand strong and they fight alongside the Republican Guard, group closest to the western standards of army quality.

Hey, Bulgakov was a member of the White Army for Russia and later wrote anti-stalin and anti-communism books.

And Stalin didn't have him shot, protected him, and in the end Stalin let him be a consultant for Bolshoi Theatre, though none of his works could be published or shown there.

You know you're a good writer when you wrote stuff against Stalin and communism and Stalin didn't shoot you.

saleh and forces loyal to him were hoping to re-establish power in yemen (as he was still rather popular even after his overthrow). he had to make a decisive alliance with one of the major factions warring for power in yemen while president hadi squandered his chances to govern properly.

his choices were either
southern communists (scattered, weak, unclear structure)
AQAP (bad news, international powers would probably full-on invade and kill him)
houthis (who fought an insurgency against him, but proved very capable fighters even versus modern weaponry)

he chose the houthis and made amends to them. many of the yemeni army units loyal to saleh were personally trained (and their officers tutored) by the US army. remember, US was once on very friendly terms with saleh.

by incorporating 5 man squad-level guerilla warfare used by the houthis into army units, they maximized their effectiveness.

its ironic. yemeni army was possibly the only arab army to ever listen to US training - and now they're using it to beat our saudi allies.

https://twitter.com/markito0171/status/663794437923987456

Oh look, ineducable SAA monkeys lost one to the rebels. Guess they just left it behind in one of their rapid defensive backpedals, like the mint condition T-72 in Morek.

ok found out about the picture you posted:

the 'rebels' seem to have retaken the village of Talaylat, but it was recaptured by Loyalists earlier today on monday:

On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and several Iraqi and Iranian paramilitary units – imposed full control over the village of Talaylat after the Wahhabi rebel fighters from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham recaptured this aforementioned site yesterday.

The answer is no, there's not enough meat. While ISIS is numerous they are spread out. If they grouped up, the Russian air-force will bomb them. While spread out, they get picked apart piece-by-piece. ISIS will have to settle for urban-warfare and spread out.

Urban warfare is basically what is going on today and why its going slowly. You have to clear buildings, rooms, kill commanders, and destroy weapons/HQ's. It's better this way, imo, most of ISIS will die in Syria.

my posts have a common theme

FSA isn't anywhere near any of those battles

FSA can't figure out the weapons if they're not there

FSA can't figure out the weapons if they technically don't exist on major fronts (or much at all)

none of these groups fighting in hama are FSA and most likely it will continue to be this way

this post matters thanks
>>
>>55332280

compared to the al-hadher front, the advance into isis territory is going much slower. how long it takes to take a village out of the hands of isis compared to that of the other rascals, takes more time. so they might be on some dope, but seem to do something right defensively at least. but maybe those are different folk and not the cannon fodder.

No fucking way, it's worse. No doubt SAA guys hoped RuAF will do all the work for them. In urban warfare my bets are on the more religious fanatics, tbqh. SAA has only two modes: not attacking and running.

Ok, let me explain something to you, as you seem to not catch my drift.

In your inexplicable haste to provide me with all that highly specialised information I didn't ask for, you
1) failed to notice that D-30 has nothing to do with Morek
2) failed to notice that I talked about a hypothetical scenario in which SAA gets saturated with artillery which they'll lose to their enemies
3) failed to notice that it was a Murphy's law joke that literally doesn't depend on whatever enemy group I put in there in order to convey my concerns in the form of a joke

In other words, your behavior fits the label of autism more than 99% of the usages of this word on 4chan.

Now, I commend your deep knowledge of what gang goes where and what number of fetwas who lacks for what, but in this case it was horribly misused. And it in combination with your lowercase posts makes me strongly suspect that you're the Jersey autist, in which case, fuck off. Thanks.

The difference is that the SAA has attempted to attack in the direction of Kuweirs many times in the past, there were defensive lines set up and villages fortified, probably with tunnels and trenches etc.

On the other hand the Iranian advance in South and South west Aleppo was into regions that didn't really see any serious combat for a while, and the front there is much larger, less physical obstacles in relatively open terrain, so is harder to defend.

You can see how the SAA is doing much worse in Hama and is actually on the retreat. They attacked into a prepared line of defense.

Yes, the offensive forces matter as well.
I guess the defensive forces too, but I actually usually tend to value non ISIS rebels higher on an individual basis, they are usually better armed and are better fighters (at least those in the groups in Northers Syria, in Daraa province it's another story).
But that's just my opinion.

In a sense, yes. Oil wells are under pressure and unless extinguished and capped, can burn for up to 5 years before enough pressure is released naturally for them to die out.

comes from authenticity and development front ( Assala wa Tanmiya)

Assala&Tanmiya is a Rebel FSA Group that was mainly present in Deir Ezzour Province,it was a well known Murji' Group with Ties with adnan Ar'our

with the Formation of "Sharqeya Shura Council" which gathered DeZ Sahwat fighting IS under al-Harari Leadership,Assala&Tanmiya got weapons&ammo from Ar'our anyway the group like all other DeZ Sahwat was crushed, most of his members fled to Turkey, others to Aleppo,Der'aa.

Since then, there was almost no Activity for the Group in Syria, its members were training in Turkey&Jordan by US trainers, now they finished

Unlike FSA's "Division 30" who naively thought that JN would let them go fight IS,and then begged JN to "stop the fight between Brothers"

This Group's Leader(from Boukamal) is clear,he says he will fight IS &whatever group who supports it,without shame he blames IS for Refugees

Anyway, there are 3 ways for this "Syrian Awakeness Force" to get on the Ground: 1/ Aleppo Northern Countryside(Big JN Threat in the Area)

2/ Raqqa Northern Countryside(could be marginalized by YPG) 3/ from Jordan to Eastern Qalamoun(try to reach DeZ province through the Desert)

We basically gave you the same answer, notice he said burn for up to 5 years?

The oil that's underground is not burning, but (in some wells, many in the ME) the pressure is enough to steadily push oil out of the reservour through the well where it mixes with the air (imagine something like an oil candle)

Their excuse is they're setting ISIS-owned wells on fire, thus draining them of resources.

Stupid move, imo. While ISIS is pulling in serious cash from the sale of oil, they have many other funds coming in to compensate so the loss isn't having a devastating effect on them.

The coalition is desperate to make their mark and have little concern about the long-lasting envornmental effects nor do they care about the civilians whose land/crops they are destroying and the economic possibilities once ISIS are cleared out.

America doesn't care because they know Syria no longer "belongs" to them. Might as well watch it burn.

>nor do they care about the civilians whose land/crops they are destroying and the economic possibilities

US started bombing small scale oil wells in Syria last Sept. Last month they bombed an oil facility in Deir Ezzor (Omar oil field). I haven't found anything that says there are currently any oil wells on fire in Syria.

Smart, this way they will be able to keep the base, not just relieve it.

Bombs do not normally cause fires unless specifically designed to do so. They tend to remove oxygen from the blast site.

>RT's Murad Gazdiev traveled to the remote, picturesque Syrian village of Ghmam, in Latakia province, which had just been liberated from jihadists by Syrian troops. Their tanks are hidden to avoid the jihadists’ rockets, only 1km away in a nearby village.

Please note the markings indicating that SAA is also moving east from the Eastern entrance of Aleppo towards the air base along the road where the Chemical Factory lies.

I've just the author of these maps which sources he uses, so I'll post his reply should I get it.

The SAA could have actually captured the base some while back

Even if they do retake Libya, who can lead them? Based Gaddhafi is already dead. His son would probably be executed the moment the ones holding him feel threatened.

It's all over for Libya. We now all forever suffer his loss for not having the moral strength to defend him
