Why is "free speech" always referenced when cicwhite makes need something to hide their hate and privilege behind?
Appeals to "free speech" are really nothing more than a shield for hate speech by oppressive white males. Saying "because of free speech" or "because the first amendment" is no more meaningful than "because the bible says so." Just another form of white male fundamentalism used to stifle traditionally marginalized voices and oppressed peoples of color, non-cis imdividuals, women, LGBTQANV people, etc.
Maybe it's time we stop treating the US constitution (which isn't even valid outside that nation) as holy scripture and start treating it as what it is: a 200-year-old piece of paper written by slave-owning white men.
